The Black Curtain

Tom... Tell me about your daydream.
Did the sleepless silence
that trapped your burning soul
remind you of your bleeding past?

Can you hear the void
asking for a moment of respite?
Has the pain we felt taught
you humility and distance?

You are knocking on the door
of hell again, condemning yourself
to a distance so bottomless
that the most beautiful dream
cannot understand it.

Tom... Your heart, so beautiful
despite suffering, overpowers the era
in which you had to be born.
Tears, too heavy as usual, soak into
your overflowing conscience.

Misunderstood for all eternity,
you had to find your way back.
The roadside you were heading down
split in half.

The distance, peering out
from behind the black curtain,
defies a broken soul.
I don't want beauty to divide us.
I don't want dreams to fill us.
I want your death to also be mine.
